seventh week

· Nothing much less compared to the last two weeks

· Still in the cable gang.

· I’m doing jointer’s job, technician’s job and also foreman’s job.

· Shutdown procedure :

1. The monthly shutdown schedule was prepared and submits to RCC (regional control center) two month before.

2. Submit the actual shutdown schedule to RCC a month before.

3. After getting an approval from RCC, they will key in the data in online shutdown management system to print out the notices for consumer.

4. Sent the notice to consumer to let them know there will be no electricity supply during this time.

5. The authorized person (AP) will request permission from controller for the shutdown process.

6. RCC will issue authorization to AP.

7. For safety, AP will issue a SKMK ( Sijil Kebenaran Melakukan Kerja ) or PTW ( Permit To Work ) to CP.

8. Started the preventive works.

9. CP (competence person) will cancel the PTW and submitted to AP.

10. AP will canceled the Autorization that given by RCC.

11. Start switching again

12. After everything was back to normal (electric supply was back again) informed RCC.

Sixth week

· Cable test need to be done before any operation to the cable is start

· It is as a precaution because we need to know whether the cable condition’s is good or not good.

· Have two shutdowns during the week.

· It is actually project to supply current to new residential

· Cable termination (Tx and LV board). Termination Tx is on the LV side.

· Using PVC cable, bi-metal slag (it is copper and aluminum- to make it is more safe and longer usage), gas and gun, cutter etc.

· For their project (in new residential), must do phasing first to check phase in the cable. To make sure that blue is connected with blue phase, yellow with yellow and red with red phase.

· Phasing is check from substation to another substation.

· Switchgear in new substation is short circuited by using wires and the reading is taken from another substation which the incoming for the new ss.

· The reading is taken by using an equipment name megan

· Magan is also used to check leaking in the cable, if got leaking, then project must be stop.(Cannot joint the cable, too dangerous)

· For this project, the cable is check in three different ss. It is because they want to create a “ring” connection between those ss

· PMU ( Pencawang Masuk Utama) is supplying 132kV from transmission and will be step down to 33kV and 11kV. 33 kV will be sent to PPU (Pencawang Pembahagian Utama) whereas 11kV straight to ss.

· There are control rooms in PMU. In this room, VCB for 11kV and 33kV is placed.

· Feeder marking is important to make the job easy when supplying current to newly develop residential.

· Each feeder in feeder pillar is for each house (according to recent connection/joint).

· There are also feeders for streets lights.

· For feeder marking job, we must test the insulation and conduction in the cable.

· To get the right feeder, we must short cct a phase, and detect it at the f/p

· Cable indication system is used to test that whether a cable is dead or not.

· It is a two procedure test. First we have to check the cable in the ss. Then to make sure that it is good, we have to spite the cable. It is also as a safety measurement.

· Cable identification system is used to check cable also. The reading must be negative to make sure that the cable is good. If the reading is positive, then the cable is leaking.

· In TNB, neutral and earth is connected together. It is also again for their safety.

· Using meagen- the reading must be ≥100G for a good cable.
