eleventh week

· New department again, last one : metering department

· There are three types of metering which is

o Single phase metering

o Three phase metering

o Current Transformer (CT)

· For single phase metering, the current value uses in fuse about 10-50 A. It use two wire connected from supply to meter board consumer. It also have one cut out and one neutral link.

· For three phase metering , the current value uses in fuse about 10-60 A. It used four wire connected from supply to meter board consumer. It have one neutral link and three cut out

· In current transformer, it used digital electronic meter

· The meter position for terrace houses, semi detaches and bungalows in urban areas should be at the entrance gate.

· For flats and condominium the meter should be at the entrance gate. For flats and condominium the meter should be grouped together.

· For the low cost terrace houses and in rural residential the meter should be placed on the electric poles.

· For shop houses and other commercial terrace buildings (<>

· The height of the meter board shall be such that the meter is about 1.8 meters above ground level. For other cases, the location of meter position must first be referred to and approved by TNB.

· Meters and their accessories should be installed only in clean and dry location not exposed to the weather or mechanical injury, free from vibration and not subjected to extremes of temperature.

· Where it is necessary to terminate the service line in a position exposed to the weather, e.g. outside the house, a suitable weather-proof, well-ventilated box of fiberglass of other materials approved by TNB, shall be provided by the customer at this own expense. Mild steel is not acceptable.

tenth week

· In planning department still. There were a visit from Mr. Mikail Fong Abdullah, our visiting lecturer from mechanical engineering department in UNITEN

· This week we were taught how handle a project

· The project given to us is “B/E ke Taman Seruling Indah, Lot. 4269, Seksyen 63, Bandar Sungai Petani, Kedah”.

· For this project, we have to use PSS/ADEPT software to plan the new P/E

· The diagram structure for 11kV system for this project is created by using PSS/ADEPT

· The supply for this project area is from P/E Taman Batik 3 (from PPU Waktu Cerah – Tx. 1, Fdr No.3, with Imax. 172.623

· The other supply is from Taman Ria Jaya 12 ( from PMU SPID – Tx.1,Fdr. No. 15, with Imax. 20.45A

· Proposal P/E is single chamber with switch RMU SF6 11kV (2S+1F), transformer 11/0.43kV( 1x1000kVA) and feeder pillar 1600 amp

· Cable used is VR 185mmp Al. XLPE from f/p 1600 amp to proposal 9.0 m poles.

· The metering use is single phase and three phases.

· All the details are calculated and are helped by TNB’s planning staff.

· In PSS/ADEPT, we created P/E cad., two scenarios, and two off point optimization

· Cad P/E is created in between Taman Berlian Indah and Taman Seruling

· It is chose there because both P/E are the nearest to the site. ( we have to based on the site plan and refer to 11kV substation schematic diagram)

· Scenario is created for safety and as a precaution.

· Scenario 1 is created if there were a cable fault at Taman Batik 3. If the fault happened, the supply will be come from PMU SPID. The off point at P/E Taman Dahlia Indah will be on.

· Scenario 2 is created such cable fault is happened at Taman Ria Jaya 12. Thus, it is vice versa

· Off point optimization objective is to make an off point at the cad. P/E

· There are two off point optimization scenarios. The two off point is then compared, and the lowest amp will be taken as an off point.

· After all the design and plan has finished, we have to summarize in order to make it easy to understand for contractor gang.

· Therefore, we have to complete a proposal

· All the details about this project will be attach in logbook and report.

ninth week

· Introduced with a software named PSS

· It is used to plan and design in planning department

· PSS/E (Power System Simulator for Engineering) is an integrated program for simulating, analyzing, and optimizing power system performance.

· The fully integrated PSS/E OPF module provides an optimal power flow solution that automatically optimizes a system for user-specified goals while meeting power flow constraints.

· PSS/E provides total analysis flexibility to power system planners and designers by modeling a wide variety of components and allowing users to apply their own analysis philosophy and criteria.

· PSS/ADEPT (Power System Simulator/Advanced Engineering Productivity Tool), PTI’s successor to the widely used PSS/U distribution analysis program, is a powerful and easy-to-use electric network simulation program for planning, designing, and analyzing distribution systems.

· It provides unbalanced power flow, short circuit, and motor starting analysis, and can perform capacitor placement optimization, tie open point optimization, load and machine scaling.

· It also allows the user to define “pictures” of loads (load snapshots)

· PSS/ADEPT also provides additional capabilities, such as protection and coordination, line constants calculations, harmonics, predictive distribution reliability analysis, as well as extensive modeling capability.

· Autocad 2006 software is also used.

· It is used to design schematic diagram for new site after estimation.

· BKKKK(Borang Kos Kerja-Kerja Kecil) will be settle by planning estimation technician

· Then, we used Autocad 2006 to design plan for poles and SVR(sesalur voltan rendah)
